The Sunrisers Hyderabad returned to winning ways with a big 31-run win while defending a low score of 118 against the defending champions Mumbai Indians. On an unlike Wankhede track, MI restricted SRH to 118 after electing bowl first. Despite the absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Billy Stanlake, Sunrisers came out strong to defend a low score. Surya Kumar Yadav and Krunal Pandya looked set to chase down the target before the home side lost six wickets for 14 runs as they were bowled out for 87 runs.

All the stats and numbers that were recorded during the low scoring game in Mumbai:

1 – This was Sunrisers Hyderabad’s first win at the Wankhede in the IPL. The Mumbai Indians defeated SRH three times at this venue before this game.


3 – This game between MI and SRH is only the 3rd in the IPL where both the teams got bowled out. RR-DC game in the 2010 edition and KKR-RCB game in the 2017 edition are the other two IPL matches that witnessed the fall of 20 wickets.


7 – Number of wickets fell during the powerplay overs in this match. These are the joint most number of wickets falling in the powerplay overs in an IPL game at the Wankhede. As many as seven wickets fell in the powerplay overs during the MI-DD game during the last season.


22/3 – Mumbai Indians’ powerplay score of 22/3 in this game is the 2nd lowest powerplay score for any team in the IPL games played in Wankhede. Mumbai Indians made 17/3 against KXIP in the 2015 season at this venue.

118/10 – Sunrisers Hyderabad’s total of 118/10 is their joint 2nd lowest total for them in the IPL. Their lowest total of 113/10 also came against Mumbai Indians in 2015. SRH scored 118/8 in their 20 overs against RPS in the 2016 season.


118 – The total of 118 is the 2nd lowest total any team successfully defended in the IPL. Chennai Super Kings won by 24 runs while defending 116/9 against the Kings XI in the 2009 season. SRH also became the first team to defend 120 and below score twice in the IPL as they defended 119 against PWI in the 2013 edition.


300 – Shakib Al Hasan became the 5th bowler to take 300 wickets in the Twenty20 format. He completed the milestone with the wicket of Rohit Sharma. He is the first left-arm bowler and the 3rd spinner after Sunil Narine and Shahid Afridi to complete 300 T20 wickets.


3028 – Yusuf Pathan became the 13th player to complete 3000 runs in the IPL. He needed one run for completing the milestone before this game. Yusuf’s 41 wickets in the IPL are the most among the 13 players with 3000 runs.
