Chennai Super Kings once again showed their deadly experience of finishing the games as they chased down a big target of 206 even after losing four wickets in the first ten overs. The South African batsmen AB de Villiers and Quinton de Kock scored fifties to help the home team to post 205/8. Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni‘s fifties took CSK home with a 101-run stand for the 5th wicket after they were 74/4 by the 9th over. A total of 33 sixes were hit by both the teams during this run feast which is an IPL record.
Ambati Rayudu‘s highest individual score in the IPL of 82 was crucial in keeping CSK in the game. His 82 came off 53 balls with three fours and eight sixes as he valued 91.5 lakhs as per the CricTracker’s player value algorithm. Rayudu’s rich form in this tournament helped him to clinch the orange cap as well. His match value is 5.82 times his average match salary as he was bought 2.2 crores at the auctions. AB de Villiers‘ aggressive innings of 68 witnessed eight sixes including the biggest maximum of the season. His match performances were valued at 77 lakhs. Quinton de Kock’s 53 was valued at 65 lakhs which is equivalent to 3.25 times his average match salary. MS Dhoni scored an unbeaten 70 in just 34 balls with only one four and seven sixes. His match performances included a couple runouts as the CSK skipper valued at 88.75 lakhs. Dwayne Bravo’s all-round performances saw him gaining a value of 65.5 lakhs from the game.
Mandeep Singh’s crucial 17-ball 32 helped RCB to go past the 200-run mark. His efforts were valued at 40.5 lakhs which are 4.05 times his average match salary as he was bought by RCB for 1.4 crores only. Imran Tahir’s back to back wickets were crucial in effecting the RCB’s total as he valued 3.15 times his average match salary. Deepak Chahar couldn’t find any help from the surface and was restricted to two overs in the game.
