The Sunrisers Hyderabad eked out yet another narrow win in the tournament. It was another low scoring game and the Orange Army managed to defend a low total again. After successfully defending a total of 118 in the previous game against the Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad defended a total of 132 on the day against the Kings XI Punjab. They bundled out the opposition for 119 to seal a 13 run win.

Earlier in the game, the Kings XI Punjab had bowled exceedingly well too. Ankit Rajpoot had ran through the SRH batting and had returned with figures of 5/14 in his quota of 4 overs. It was a hard fought 54 off 51 deliveries from Manish Pandey, coupled with cameos from Yusuf Pathan and Shakib Al Hasan that helped the hosts reach a total of 132 in their stipulated 20 overs.

In the run chase, the Kings got off to a flying start with KL Rahul and Chris Gayle hammering 55 runs for the first wicket. Rashid Khan provided the first breakthrough for the Sunrisers Hyderabad by dismissing KL Rahul. In the very next over, Chris Gayle was dismissed by Basil Thampi. This started the procession and the wickets kept tumbling for the visitors and they eventually fell short by 13 runs.

Here are the Sunrisers Hyderabad player ratings for the match:

Shikhar Dhawan – 1/10

Shikhar Dhawan had a bad time in the field on the day. He got off to a decent start with a couple of boundaries to his name but ended up getting dismissed by a swinging delivery from Ankit Rajpoot. Dhawan perished with a score of 11 to his name.

Kane Williamson – 3/10

Kane Williamson has been the man in form for the Sunrisers Hyderabad this season. But in the game against the Kings, Williamson ended up giving his wicket away early on in the game. He was the first batsman to be dismissed in the match. Later in the game, he turned out to be the captain marvel with his excellent bowling changes. Also, he was quite impressive on the field.

Wriddhiman Saha – 1/10

The poor run of Wriddhiman Saha continued in this game as well. Saha arrived at the crease in the early stages of the game and came in to bat at number three. But the veteran batsman failed to get going. Saha needs to understand that he needs to shoulder more responsibility in case the top two fail for the Sunrisers.

Manish Pandey – 8/10

The wicket in Hyderabad looked like a very tricky one on the day. The batsmen found it hard to get their feet moving. Amidst this precarious situation, Manish Pandey held the innings together for the hosts. He played till the very final over and scored a very valuable 54 to his name. Albeit his knock came in 51 deliveries, he held an end for his side and that was very crucial for SRH.

Yusuf Pathan – 6/10

Yusuf Pathan played yet another handy cameo for his team. He came in to bat in the 14th over and the team expected him to go all guns blazing right from the word go. The veteran campaigner hit a four and a six to keep his side interested. Pathan remained unbeaten on 21 off 19 deliveries to see his side cross the 130-run mark.

Shakib Al Hasan – 7/10

Shakib Al Hasan had a troubled stay at crease in the match. He came in to bat in the powerplay when the team desperately needed someone to stay at the crease. Shakib and Manish added valuable 52 runs for the fourth wicket before Shakib was dismissed on 28 that came off 29 deliveries. Later in the game, he bowled 3 overs and picked up two big wickets of Aaron Finch and Mayank Agarwal. He gave away just 18 runs.

Mohammad Nabi – 2/10

Mohammad Nabi had a forgetful time in the match. He scored a four on the very first ball that he faced in the game but perished on the very next ball. Well, that was in the team’s cause. Later in the game, he bowled two overs and ended up giving away 24 runs. He also dropped a catch in the later part of the game.

Rashid Khan – 9/10

Rashid Khan proved to be the difference between the two sides in the match. Rashid was introduced in to the attack when the KXIP openers were going all guns blazing. He managed to dismiss KL Rahul to set things up for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Later in the innings, he dismissed R Ashwin and Karun Nair as well. The leggie finished with figures of 3/19 in the four overs that he bowled.

Siddarth Kaul – 3/10

Siddarth Kaul bowled fairly well on the day in his quota of four overs. He was unlucky to have not bagged any wicket in the match. In the four overs that he bowled, he gave away 25 runs. When seen on a broader scale, he did play his part in the game by not conceding too many runs.

Sandeep Sharma – 8/10

Sandeep Sharma has been very impressive in the limited opportunities that he has got in the season thus far. Sandeep bowled very well yet again and returned with figures of 2/17 in the four overs that he bowled. He could have bagged another couple of wickets had the fielders not dropped catches off his bowling.

Basil Thampi – 8/10

Thampi did not get to bowl his complete quota of overs on the day but he certainly managed to do his bit with the ball. He was certainly an impact player considering the fact that he bagged the big wicket of Chris Gayle in the match. Also, he dismissed the last batsman, Ankit Rajpoot, to finish off with figures of 2/14 in the 2.2 overs that he bowled on the day.
