Kolkata Knight Riders were quick in bouncing back after a big defeat to Delhi Daredevils as they registered a comfortable six-wicket win against the RCB in Bangalore. Virat Kohli’s unbeaten 68 off 44 balls pushed RCB’s total to 175/4 which wasn’t enough for their bowlers to defend. Chris Lynn approached the chase in a calm way with the runs flowing at the other end. He remained unbeaten on 62 off 52 balls to see the Kolkata Knight Riders through to a win with five balls to spare.
Lynn recorded his slowest fifty in the T20 format off 42 balls with help of seven fours and a six. He turned out to be the most valuable player as per the CricTracker’s player value algorithm in which he earned a value of 66.5 lakhs. Virat Kohli might be ending up on the losing side but gained the highest value from the match. His innings of 68 included five fours and three sixes helping him to earn a value of 78.5 lakhs. Manan Vohra turned out to be the liable player of the game as he bagged a golden duck after failing to put away a low full-toss.
Andre Russell celebrated his birthday with a 3-wicket haul including the crucial wicket of Brendon McCullum. However, Russell bagged a golden duck with the bat trying for a big shot on the first ball he faced. He earned a value of 62 lakhs for his match performances which is 1.24 times of his average match salary. Mitchell Johnson earned the lowest value among the KKR players as his match performances was limited to only three dot balls.
The RCB openers Brendon McCullum and Quinton de Kock added 67 for the opening wicket. McCullum scored 38 in just 28 balls with four fours and two sixes to earn a value of 42 lakhs while De Kock earned 36.5 lakhs for his 29 which is equivalent to 1.83 times his average match value. Murugan Ashwin was the culprit of dropping Lynn early on but claimed the wickets of Sunil Narine and Robin Uthappa on his RCB debut.
