IPL 2018, Match 29: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kolkata Knight Riders – Best memes/gifs

The Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered yet another comprehensive loss in IPL 11 last night as the Kolkata Knight Riders toppled them by 6 wickets at a jam-packed Chinnaswamy Stadium. The RCB was playing with a slightly weaker XI as AB de Villiers was down with viral fever and thus was ruled out of action, but the hosts were still able to put on a par score on the board batting first courtesy a fantastic half-century off the bat of the skipper Virat Kohli.

It was a slow pitch and the spinners were getting a lot of purchase off the surface as the ball was gripping and spinning. Since RCB had played a couple of wrist spinners, they would have backed themselves to defend 175, but more than the bowling, what let them down was their fielding.

To be fair to the RCB bowlers, they created ample opportunities right from the word go, but the fielders just refused to accept them. Not only did they drop quite a few catches, they erred in ground fielding as well on a consistent basis and allowed KKR free runs on many occasions.

Chris Lynn who remained not out on 62 and saw off the chase for KKR should have been sent to the pavilion in the 4th over of the innings itself when Yuzvendra Chahal induced a false stroke off him as the ball ballooned in the air in the cover region taking the leading edge of Lynn’s bat, but Murugan Ashwin the debutant made a mess of what was an easy catch and dropped it to give the hustling Aussie right-hander a lifeline which he made full use of.

The RCB skipper Virat Kohli looked totally dejected after the game as he ripped into his teammates for their loose performance on the field saying they didn’t deserve to win the game with that sort of effort. RCB, with this loss, is now virtually out of contention for the top 2 finish and with a couple of more losses from here, they will be out of the tournament.

The RCB fans were brutally trolled by the Twitterati as the result went wrong for their team once again.
