The Mumbai Indians seem to be getting on a roll in IPL once again after losing plenty of games in the first half of the tournament. They secured their third win in a row last evening beating the Kolkata Knight Riders in their own backyard and jumped into the top 4 of the standings for the first time this season.

It’s not just the win, but the margin by which they won was a testimonial of the fact that they have been able to shift the positive momentum back in their favour at the right time. The reigning champions absolutely bulldozed Kolkata outplaying them in all departments of the game and sent a strong message to the rest of the competition.

The young wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan played the most important role for Mumbai as he put the impetus into their innings at a crucial stage when they seemed to be struggling with their run rate. Ishan attacked arguably India’s best white ball spinner Kuldeep Yadav and smacked him for four sixes in an over to change the whole complexion of the game in a jiffy.

Ben Cutting later finished it off in style in the 20th over and powered Mumbai to a 200 plus score which was always going to be difficult to chase on that pitch as it wasn’t quite a flat road. Mumbai came firing on all cylinders with the ball as well and hit their areas right from the very outset to build the pressure on the hosts.

The wickets just kept coming at regular intervals for Mumbai and at no point did KKR look like getting even close to the target. It was total annihilation from Rohit Sharma’s boys and a night to remember for the Mumbai Indians fans who took a dig at the haters trolling them with funny memes and gifs.
