A collective effort from the Kolkata Knight Riders saw them through to the playoffs with their 3rd consecutive victory as they defeated the Sunrisers by five wickets. The SRH team’s innings lost momentum like their season campaign as they now suffered their 3rd straight defeat. The home team ended up with a total of 172/9 after being 127/1 in the 13th over. A 52-run opening partnership in just 22 balls gave KKR cruise control in the chase and despite slowing down in the middle overs against the spinners they got home with ease.

Here are all the stats and numbers that were recorded during Knight Riders’ playoffs qualification win:

2Dinesh Karthik has got out only twice since May 2017 in the successful chases in the T20 format. He remained unbeaten in ten of the 12 successful chases he has been involved in. He scored 392 runs in this spread at an average of 196 and has a batting strike-rate of 169.69. Karthik’s 339 runs in 2018 across ten successful T20 chases have come at an average of 169.5 and a strike-rate of 172.95.

3 – This is the 3rd consecutive defeat for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in this season. The last time they lost three in a row was between 2015 and 2016 seasons. They ended 2015 with back to back losses and lost their first two games in 2016.

3 – The Knight Riders now have defeated SRH three times in Hyderabad which is the most by any team. CSK, MI and RPS have two wins apiece against the Sunrisers at the RGICS, Hyderabad.

4 – Sunil Narine became only the 4th player to score 300+ runs and take 15+ wickets in an IPL season. Shane Watson was the first to do so in 2008, Dwayne Bravo did the double it in 2013 while Jacques Kallis scored 300+ and took 15+ wickets in 2012 and 2013 seasons for KKR.

4/30 – Prasidh Krishna became the first uncapped bowler to take a 4-wicket haul in the IPL for KKR. These are also the best bowling figures for a KKR bowler against a Hyderabad franchise or in Hyderabad.

172/9 – Only the 2nd time Sunrisers Hyderabad have failed to defend a total of 160+ at their home venue RGIC Stadium in Hyderabad. They lost while defending a mammoth total of 205/5 against the Kings XI Punjab in the 2014 season.

425 – Chris Lynn has scored 425 runs in the IPL 2018 thus far. These are the most runs scored by an overseas player for the Kolkata Knight Riders in an IPL season. He surpassed Jacques Kallis’ tally of 424 runs in the 2011 edition which was also in 14 innings.
