The Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) have stuttered in their last few matches. They lost against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur by 15 runs despite KL Rahul’s masterful knock of 95 runs. They returned to their home ground at the Holkar Stadium in Indore and played against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a quest to stage a comeback.
However, they slumped to their second consecutive defeat and are currently placed at the third position of the league table. The Knight Riders haemorrhaged 245 runs, which turned out to be the highest team score of this season’s IPL. Punjab tried their hearts out but eventually fell short by 31 runs. Preity Zinta, who is the co-owner of the franchise, must have been disappointed by the franchise’s performance.
During the presentation ceremony, Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia, the Member of Parliament of the Lok Sabha was seen having a chat with Preity and giving her valuable suggestions. Punjab started the tournament on an impressive note, but have suddenly gone into a slump and are in requisite of quite a victories in order for them to arrest their slump.
The loss of form for Kings XI Punjab
Punjab still have three games out of which they need to win at least a couple in order to cement their place in the playoffs. They next play the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Indore itself and would be keen to get back their old rhythm and storm into the playoffs. The likes of KL Rahul and Chris Gayle have been outstanding in the tournament.
Meanwhile, their middle order has flattered to deceive and haven’t yet found the right combination. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) exposed the chinks in their middle order, which have been exploited by other teams as well. The franchise may find their campaign in the doldrums, provided they didn’t manage to win against Virat Kohli’s RCB.
