The Chennai Super Kings have stormed in to the playoffs of the IPL 2018. They have made a sensational comeback in the IPL this season. Firmly led by MS Dhoni, the Men in Yellow finished on the second spot in the points table for the season. They are now all set to face off against the table toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad in the marquee clash of the Qualifier 1 of IPL 2018.

In the last league game of the season, the Chennai Super Kings beat the Kings XI Punjab to seal their second spot in the points table. MS Dhoni was unpredictable as ever and he used some very strange tactics yet again. He opted to bowl first in the big game. His bowlers responded well as they restricted the visiting Kings XI Punjab side to a mere 153 runs on the board.

The pitch in Pune was arguably the liveliest that the fans have seen across the different games of the season. The ball was seaming around and that was the reason even the Chennai Super Kings batsmen struggled against the new ball. It was surprising to see Harbhajan Singh get a promotion ahead of the likes of MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, and Ravindra Jadeja in the game.

After Harbhajan’s dismissal, another surprise was in store as Deepak Chahar was given a promotion. Citing reasons for the same, Dhoni remarked that the idea was to unsettle the bowlers. He noted that the bowlers often try to do new things when they see tailenders at the crease and end up messing their lines.

“If you see the bowling line up it was swinging a bit. In a game like this, you want to take a lot of wickets while it is swinging. So with Bhajji and Chahar going in – it creates a bit of chaos. With proper batsmen the bowlers are consistent, somehow to lower order players they try the bouncers, off-cutters, etc,” MS Dhoni reasoned out.

On the final ball six

MS Dhoni and the last ball six sounds like an absolute love story. Yet again, Dhoni finished things off in style for his side with six over the deep square leg fence. Commenting on the same, Dhoni noted that the field was up and hence, he went for the big hit.

“All the fielders were up so I went for the big shot,” Dhoni said on being asked about the six to finish off the game in style yet again for his side.
