The Mumbai Indians have been a formidable outfit in the IPL over the years. Having won the championship last year, they will enter the IPL 2018 as the defending champions. At the IPL 2018 auctions, they have made some very good purchases. Among the lot, the camp boasts of two very talented young cricketers. Well, in all fairness, all the buys have been very good one for them.
But the think tank is having very high hopes from their two young recruits. In a report published on the official website of the Mumbai Indians, the spot light was on young Ishan Kishan and Evin Lewis. Ishan has been making the headlines for his good show in the domestic cricket. On the other hand, Lewis already has two T20I centuries against India.
Commenting on Ishan Kishan, the Mumbai Indians team owner Nita Ambani conceded that the camp has always backed young cricketers. She hopes that much like Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, and Krunal Pandya, even Ishan will go on to scale greater heights in his career. Speaking about Lewis, Nita added that the team management had set their eyes on the Windies opener a long time ago.
“Well first, I think Mumbai Indians has always backed young talent. Ishan was the captain of the Under-19 team and Mumbai Indians needed a wicket-keeping batsman in the top order and he fit the bill. We’ve had Krunal, we’ve had Hardik and we backed them, Bumrah too, and I’m sure Ishan will also make us proud by becoming an international player soon,” quoted Nita Ambani.

Jayawardene’s views on Ishan Kishan, Evin Lewis
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene also spoke on the same lines as he praised both the cricketers. Speaking about Ishan, Mahela cited that the very fact about the bids going as high as INR 6 crore for Ishan is a big statement about his talent. The Mumbai camp believes that he is the player for future. Moreover, with no Parthiv Patel in the side, the team wanted a wicketkeeper-batsman in their camp.

We’ve had Krunal, we’ve had Hardik and we backed them, Bumrah too, and I’m sure Ishan will also make us proud by becoming an international player soon,” said Mahela Jayawardene.
Jayawardene further spoke about Evin Lewis. He cited that Lewis has been a very good buy considering that he turned out to be a cheat deal for the Mumbai Indians. He reckons that Evin Lewis will love batting at the Wankhede considering the fact that it is a batting paradise. Jayawardene expressed his excitement at having Lewis on the MI roster.
“I think he’s a great buy especially at that price, considering some of the other players’ prices that they were going for. I think he’s a young, talented West Indian cricketer who has shown abundance of talent especially against the Indian national team where he scored a couple of hundreds. So, I think we’re very excited to have him. He’ll be a great fit for this franchise. I’m sure that he will enjoy batting at the Wankhede, because it’s a very good batting wicket and it’ll be fun to see him come next IPL,” the MI coach added.
