IPL 2018: Mumbai Indians schedule for the season

The 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) promises to be a bigger and a grander affair than the previous seasons. Defending champions Mumbai Indians will be one of the outfits bagging a lot of attention as the tournament gets underway. They are set for their title defense under the leadership of Rohit Sharma yet again.

If things go right and they stick to their winning mantra, they might well end up clinching the title yet again. The Mumbai Indians team is the only team to have won the IPL trophy thrice and another title win will strengthen their claim as the most successful side in the tournament even more. The schedule for the Indian Premier League 2018 was recently announced.

And the eyes lit up when the fans saw the opening encounter being between the MI camp and the Chennai Super Kings. Team Mumbai will be hosting the Super Kings at their fortress in Mumbai on April 7 in the season opener. Over the years, the Mumbai franchise has made the venue of Wankhede Stadium as their fortress. They have a formidable record playing at the venue.

It is worth noting that being the defending champions, the IPL schedule sees the finals of the tournament and the Qualifier 1 of the tournament scheduled to be played in Mumbai. The first away game for the Mumbai Indians will be against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on April 12.

They will then return to their fortress to host Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore in their next two games before heading over to Jaipur to play against Rajasthan Royals. The last league game for MI will be an away game against the Daredevils in Delhi. Over the years, team Mumbai has emerged as the late bloomers in the competition. Their fans would hope they hit their straps right early on in the competition this year. It is always better to start things on a high to ensure a firm finish towards the end.
