Defending Champions Mumbai Indians started the IPL 2018 season in a disappointing manner by losing their first three games. However, they are back to Wankhede last night to crush Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore by 46 runs, which gave them the first victory of the season.

It was Virat Kohli, who won the toss and elected to field first. Mumbai Indians continued with their previous opening combination. Suryakumar and Ishan Kishan bagged golden ducks off Umesh Yadav. After those two dismissals, there was no looking back for the hosts as they dominated the rest of the first innings, thanks to Rohit Sharma and Evin Lewis.

With the help of Rohit Sharma and Lewis’ brutal hitting, Mumbai Indians posted a total of 213/6 in 20 overs. Coming to the chase, RCB got a new opener in Virat Kohli with Quinton de Kock in the other end. It was Mitchell McClenaghan, who took the wickets of dangerous Quinton de Kock and AB de Villiers in a single over.

It was the Kiwi pacer, who set the game for Mumbai Indians. The hosts continued their domination throughout the game despite Virat Kohli’s late hitting. The RCB skipper contributed 92* runs of RCB’s 167/8 in 20 overs. This was Bangalore’s third defeat in the four games they played so far.
