IPL 2018: Viv Richards classifies today's contest as CSK's experience vs Delhi's youth

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will lock horns today with the Delhi Daredevils (DD) at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Both teams have had contrasting fortunes as the tournament has progressed. While Chennai are at the top of the ladder, Delhi are still languishing at the bottom of the league table. The last game for the teams has been different though.

Chennai slumped against Mumbai at their newly adopted home ground. On the contrary, the Daredevils led by Shreyas Iyer, who took over the reins from Gautam Gambhir, guided his team to a mammoth victory against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Meanwhile, Viv Richards has mentioned the MS Dhoni-led franchise as the most formidable team in the championship.

“The eleventh edition of the IPL hasn’t failed to impress in terms of entertainment as well as talent. Each match has been amazing in its own way. Chennai Super Kings, who are currently the most consistent team, take on the Delhi Daredevils, who seem to be struggling to find their groove,” the former Windies cricketer mentioned in his column for The Times of India (TOI).

The team combinations of the teams are different from each other. Chennai mostly have cricketers who are veterans, some being at the twilight of their career. Meanwhile, Delhi has young and vibrant cricketers, who are currently brimming with confidence following their victory against the Knights. Richards, in his column, also wrote about the battle between CSKs experience with DDs youth.

“On paper, both have great teams, but the execution on the field is where the difference lies. Delhi is a team that rides on young talent that are looking to prove themselves game after game, whereas the Chennai team is filled with experienced players.” he added. While Chennai are pretty comfortable in their campaign, Delhi need to keep their winning momentum intact in order to move ahead.”

Allrounders like Jadeja and Bravo, who come in and know how to make a difference with the bat and ball, along with a captain as cool as Dhoni, who can finish any game in style; Chennai certainly have what it takes to be the best of the best.”
