Wriddhiman Saha is currently playing for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He hasn’t had an overwhelming time in the matches he has played. Apart from a couple of starts, he hasn’t had much to do with the willow. Moreover, his position in the batting order has been shifted way too many times.
To add to his woes, he will miss SRH’s match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune owing to a shoulder injury as per reports in Times Now. Tom Moody, the former Australian all-rounder and the current head coach of the Sunrisers, confirmed the news on the eve of the encounter.
Shreevats Goswami- Saha’s replacement
The Bengal-cricketer was ruled out of the playing eleven against the Delhi Daredevils (DD) following which Shreevats Goswami, another wicket-keeper batsman from Bengal, replaced him. Goswami played his first IPL match after a gap of six years. He previously played 24 matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders (RR) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
He doesn’t have an overwhelming record in the cash-rich tournament. He has scored 241 runs in 23 matches at an average of 16.01 with a top score of 52, which came back in 2008. The southpaw entered this year’s auction at a base price of INR 20 lakhs and was eventually roped in for an amount of INR 1 crore by the Kane Williamson-captained franchise.
The franchise became the first team to qualify for the playoffs when they mauled Shreyas Iyer’s Daredevils by nine wickets at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi. Having already made their way into the top-four, the Orange Army will want to ensure that they don’t let complacency sneak through and cement their position among the top two teams.
