Navdeep Saini has started to knock on the doors of the selectors with his accuracy, pace and bounce in the ongoing edition of the IPL. He is playing for RCB and is bowling well on a batting paradise at the Chinnaswamy. Known to breach the 150kmph regularly, Navdeep is also getting the ball to move around in his opening spells at a rapid pace.
While his chances of making it to the World Cup squad look bleak, it might not be a bad option to try him post ICC CWC 2019 as the fourth Seamer of the squad. The fourth Seamer has always been a problem for India and that’s because there has been a clear lack of consistency, by whoever has filled in that spot.
Voicing his opinion on Twitter, in a reply to Boria Majumdar’s tweet which said “As I was telling @vikrantgupta73 and @MClarke23 last night I think Navdeep Saini May just have opened his door to the World Cup. Has pace and bounce. Looks good. What say @cricketaakash @DeepDasgupta @harbhajan_singh”, Aakash Chopra replied as follows “I find him promising. Will play for India sooner than later. But if picked for the World Cup, it’ll also show how poorly we planned for the fourth seamer. Tried everyone except him.”

Aakash Chopra is well known analyst of the game and what his opinion holds true to an extent. Navdeep has shown good signs of consistency with the white ball and consistency in a prerequisite for the fourth seamer. In a reply to a question made by a fan with regards to the number four position, Aakash Chopra said that he would include Rayudu in his squad.
With India yet to announce the 23-man probables for the World Cup, only time will tell if the selectors decide to take a gamble with Navdeep Saini as their fourth Seamer but for now, he is gathering the right kind of attention around him.
