When the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), MS Dhoni, invaded the field at Sawai Mansingh Stadium ground in Jaipur on April 11 in the game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) to protest an umpiring goof-up, there was a backlash against the former India captain. Known for his ‘captain cool’ tag, Dhoni’s anger had unsettled a lot of people and many felt he had set up a bad precedent through his gesture.

The issue continued to create a stir for some time even after Dhoni was fined 50 per cent of his match fee (former captain Bishan Singh Bedi though felt it was nothing but ‘kid-gloving’ the cricketer). The CSK’s batting coach Mike Hussey, a former Australian cricketer, however, assured ahead of the team’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday that the yellow jerseys have moved on from that episode and it would have no impact whatsoever on the upcoming game.

Dhoni was livid to see one of the on-field umpires, Ulhas Gandhe, giving a waist-high delivery from all-rounder Ben Stokes as “no” in the tense final over of the CSK’s chase of the target of 152 but dismissing it soon after. Non-striker Ravindra Jadeja, too, noticed the incident and protested. It was at that moment when Dhoni made an entry into the field, irking the purists.

“It’s (incident) like having a loss. And again, you move on to the next match as quickly as you possibly can. So to be honest, we haven’t spoken about it. It’s been dealt with and we’ve moved on,” India Today cited reports as quoting Hussey ahead of the KKR clash.

‘In IPL, one needs to get on to next game quickly’

“Yeah, it’s all happened and it’s been dealt with pretty much right after the game. And the game is finished and that’s the thing about the IPL. You get to move on to the next match very quickly. There’s no point us dwelling on it. Worrying about and stressing about it, we’ve got to move on.”

The former southpaw who had once played for the CSK lauded Dhoni as an asset for any team who is capable of responding to any situation of the game.
