The 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has lightened up the country. The season is getting to a stage where every game is important for all the teams to get into the top four in the points table. Meanwhile, some of the teams are battling injuries as well as they are seeking replacements for them. However, the South African superstar, on Thursday, posted a picture of his visa travelling to India and hinted at a surprise for his fans.
Now there could be a possibility that Steyn will be playing for any team as an injury replacement. The speculations are rife on the social media right now after he posted the picture on his Instagram story. At the moment, the team in need of an overseas player is the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Nathan Coulter-Nile has not joined them after the end of Pakistan series and his date got delayed for unknown reasons.
He might have got ruled out of the tournament. Moreover, it is also possible that the official broadcaster of the IPL, Star Sports, has roped Dale Steyn for a short commentary stint for Select Dugout show. Well, only Steyn can reveal now but the fans are already excited about it.
Here’s the story:
Steyn had gone unsold in auction
Earlier, in the auction, Dale Steyn had gone unsold with no team showing interest in the fast bowler. There are no doubts whatsoever on his abilities but the injuries which he battled over the last couple of years would’ve been the reason for the same.
Having said that, Steyn has comeback strongly playing in all the formats in the recent home season for South Africa. He has also proved his fitness by bowling at sheer pace in Tests and ODIs as well. The veteran looks set to make it to the World Cup squad and more so with Duanne Olivier going the Kolpak way, his selection looks obvious now. It will be a treat for his fans in India if he is going to be a part of the IPL in any way.
