Yuvraj Singh continues to warm the bench for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Given the form Yuvraj was in during the last couple of years, buying him was always going to be a gamble. But unlike the other seven franchises, Mumbai decided to take the gamble and bought the veteran batsman at his base price of INR 1 crore. But it seems they have realised that playing Yuvraj in the eleven is not the way forward for them.
The legendary batsman started the season on a promising note with a fighting fifty against the Delhi Capitals. In a game where most of his teammates struggled to get going, the southpaw waged a lone battle although it eventually in vain. In the following game, he turned back the clock by hitting Yuzvendra Chahal for three consecutive sixes. But since then it has not been an easy ride for the man who helped India win two World Cups.
He scored 18 against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and 4 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) before Mumbai Indians dropped him. He was then replaced by Ishan Kishan in the playing eleven. However, the youngster failed to justify the selection too, scoring 17, 7, 5 and 21 in the four games he played. Speculations were rife that Yuvraj would get the nod for the game against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday which Kishan missed due to sickness. However, the three-time finalists instead went for allrounder Ben Cutting.
Baffled with the decision, Irfan Pathan who is commentating in the IPL took to Twitter to question the move. He did not write much in his tweet but made his intentions clear by writing: “Where is #yuvi ??”

Yuvraj’s international career over?
Meanwhile, it looks like Yuvraj would never play for India again. On the very expected lines, the selectors didn’t name him in the World Cup squad and it is highly unlikely he would play for the Men in Blue again.
