Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are in a bit of a shambles in this edition’s Indian Premier League (IPL), having lost their last four matches. Their last defeat came against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata despite the stupendous knocks from Andre Russell and Nitish Rana. Dinesh Karthik and Co would next play the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the RGI Stadium in Hyderabad.

In the meantime, it has been learned that the 33-year-old Joe Denly, who was brought at a base price of INR 1 crore by the Kolkata-based franchise, has left the country in order to take part in England’s domestic cricket where he plays for Kent, who is a part of the one day championship and are next scheduled to play Gloucestershire at the County Ground in Bristol.

He took to Twitter and wrote, “Home time!! Thank you to @kkriders for having me over the last month, amazing experience!! Time to get ready for a very exciting summer, starting Tuesday with @kentcricket,”

Here is Denly’s tweet

Denly didn’t get many chances for the KKR in the IPL. He had to sit out for quite a few matches before he eventually got a chance to play against the Shreyas Iyer-captained Delhi Capitals (DC) in Kolkata. However, to his dismay, he managed to bag a golden after being cleaned up by the tall and lanky Ishant Sharma in the very first ball of the game. He replaced Sunil Narine in the lineup.

He is also a handy off-break bowler but didn’t get a chance to roll his arm over. He didn’t get an opportunity thereafter as Narine returned to the playing eleven. Denly is also a part of the England squad for the 2019 World Cup, scheduled to get underway on Thursday, May 30. Prior to that, he is also set to play the limited-overs home series against Sarfaraz Ahmed’s Pakistan.
