Cricketers might have a glamorous profession where they get lots of money for plying their trade for their nation and in various T20 leagues all over the world, but that also means that players are constantly travelling from one place to another and living out of their suitcases.
Indian Premier League (IPL) is one such tournament with 54 matches crammed in two months with the team playing 7 home and 7 away matches, meaning having to travel from one place to another within hours of finishing a match somewhere else. This means that players have to keep themselves busy and get rest during the flights as well.
One way to keep things cool and keep the camaraderie between the team going when you have players from many nationalities and culture playing in the same team is to utilize humour. Having fun during these times is necessary and it seems Jonny Bairstow of Sunrisers Hyderabad has aced this part of the life of a cricketer.
Bairstow pranks Kane Williamson during a flight
SRH have played 5 games already in the first 16 days of the IPL and they still have a minimum of 9 games more to go. In such a frantic tournament, some players bring out their playful self in order to relax and take their mind away from the game.
During a flight to Mohali from Hyderabad, after SRH’s match against KXIP, Bairstow and a couple of players had already boarded the plane and Bairstow hid behind some seats to scare crew members. He was successful in pranking a member of the crew, but his final target was SRH captain Kane Williamson.
Bairstow is seen laughing mischievously as he waits for Williamson to board the plane and come through the aisles. The official Instagram handle of SRH posted a couple of videos on the social media site Instagram with caption, “Ever wondered what the players do while traveling? 🤔 🎥 Here’s @jbairstow21 giving you a glimpse of it… 😉”
