Chris Gayle made England pay in the recently concluded five-match ODI series. Both the teams won two games each but the Caribbean side gained more out of this contest as they managed to come up trumps twice against the World number 1 side. Gayle’s form with the bat on his Windies comeback was a huge plus ahead of the World Cup. Apart from Windies, even the Kings XI Punjab coach Mike Hesson in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is also extremely happy.
The Universe Boss, who has announced his retirement from the ODI format after the World Cup, amassed 424 runs in the four matches of the series at an exceptional average of 106. He didn’t fail even in one game smashing two centuries and the same number of fifty-plus scores.
He is a great player
Mike Hesson was delighted to see their ace player Chris Gayle in scintillating touch ahead of the IPL. Gayle will be crucial for the KXIP franchise who failed to qualify for the playoffs last season. Hesson lauded the Windies opener for his services towards the game and also went on to say that the KXIP side are lucky to have him in the team.
“Chris Gayle is a “Great Player” who just keeps on giving……..so many times he has been written off and continues to bounce back…..we are lucky to have him in our squad @lionsdenkxip #greatplayer #IPL2019 #LivePunjabiPlayPunjabi,” Hesson’s tweet read.

As far as KXIP’s schedule for the upcoming season is concerned, they will begin their campaign on March 25 against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Mike Hesson, new to the role for the team, will be hoping now that Gayle and the other players perform according to expectations during the tournament. They have a well balanced squad and have the capability to win the IPL under the captaincy of Ravi Ashwin.
