IPL 2019: Match 23, CSK vs KKR - Funniest Memes from the Match

Another much-awaited clash in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) turned out to be a damp squib. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) put up an overly underwhelming display on a turning pitch after the home team invited them to bat first. The under-par score was never going to trouble the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as they chased it down without much fuss with more than two overs to spare.

Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine opened the innings for KKR and the duo never looked comfortable during their brief stay and were dismissed in the first couple of overs. While the Australian was pinned in front of the stumps by Deepak Chahar, Narine was bluffed by the veteran Harbhajan Singh who has been bowling beautifully this season. KKR never recovered from the early blows and were soon reduced to 24/4.

Chahar made the ball talk to send back both Nitish Rana and Robin Uthappa who rather played poor strokes. Dinesh Karthik then tried to resurrect the innings but even he played a cross batted shot surprisingly off Imran Tahir and was caught at mid-wicket.

Andre Russell fought a lone battle then to score a half-century off 44 deliveries but even he was too lucky on the day and didn’t middle most of the balls. His knock propelled the team to 108 runs for the loss of nine wickets and even that score looked far when they were struggling at 47/6.

Faf stays calm in the chase

With the turning pitch on offer, KKR opened the bowling with Piyush Chawla. But Shane Watson got stuck into him. He raced away to 17 and was threatening to finish the game early before being dismissed by Narine. Suresh Raina was also sent back by the same bowler but he was once again undone by a brilliant catch in the outfield, this time by Piyush Chawla.

These were the only moments of joy for the visitors as Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis slowly but steadily made light work of the chase. Though the former got out trying a big shot, the Proteas skipper brought his all the experience to the fore to take the team home along with Kedar Jadhav. CSK are now once again at the top of the points table with five wins out of six matches.
