Well, the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) will be feeling better after landing in Mohali. They have built a kind of a fortress this season at the venue. Combining the last season, they have won seven matches on the trot here and will be hoping to continue the winning run against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Saturday. KXIP lost against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the last-ball thriller and have won four out of seven matches so far.

Chris Gayle has come in form at the right time for his team but he is likely to miss the game. The Universe Boss struggled with his back in the previous encounter and didn’t even come out to field later in the second innings. The team management would look to rest him and keep fit for the business end of the league stage when the things get tighter. Ravi Ashwin can also make a few more tactical changes to the line-up.

As far as the RCB is concerned, nothing has worked for them this season so far. They are still winless in the tournament and will have to win all the remaining eight matches to qualify for the playoffs. Dale Steyn‘s signing can change their fate but the South African’s availability for this match is still not clear and looks unlikely to feature. Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers, as usual, hold key for them again.

Pitch and Conditions

The Mohali pitch has been slow this time around. After a high-scoring encounter in the first game of the season at the venue, the scores have come down drastically. The trend might continue with the spinners getting help and with dew coming in, chasing looks a better option. It has been extremely in Mohali with the temperature crossing the 40-Degree mark. Though it will cool down considerably in the evening during the match.

Team Combinations

Kings XI Punjab

Sam Curran is likely to open the innings in case Chris Gayle is deemed unfit for this match. Moises Henriques might replace Gayle to bring calmness and the much-needed experience in the middle-order. Also, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Murugan Ashwin might come in as they are playing in Mohali. Ashwin has used this tactic this season and has worked for him as well.

Probable XI: KL Rahul (WK), Sam Curran, Mayank Agarwal, Sarfaraz Khan, David Miller, Mandeep Singh, Moises Henriques, Ravi Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Murugan Ashwin, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Tim Southee looks the likeliest candidate to be left out for this match. He hasn’t impressed at all in the two matches he’s played so far. Colin de Grandhomme might come in while Akshdeep Nath could be left out for Umesh Yadav. Yadav didn’t play last two matches and has been expensive with the ball so far.

Probable XI: Parthiv Patel (WK), Virat Kohli (C), AB de Villiers, Marcus Stoinis, Moeen Ali, Colin de Grandhomme, Pawan Negi, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal.
