The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has lost three matches in a row in this edition’s Indian Premier League (IPL) and are placed at the sixth position of the table. Their last defeat came against the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. In that match, the SRH lost eight wickets in 15 runs and lost the game. The team suffered a similar collapse against the Mumbai Indians (MI) as well.
In their next match, the Sunrisers are scheduled to play the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at home itself. Hence, it’s pretty understandable that Kane Williamson and Co need to pull a rabbit out the bat in order to outclass CSK. On a head-to-head count, CSK has been dominant, having won nine out of the eleven matches. In their last four meetings, all of which came in the last season, Chennai beat them every time.
Pitch and Conditions
The atmosphere isn’t expected to be a daunting one as the temperature will start at 30 degree Celsius and will gradually go down as the game progresses. The humidity will be in between the percentages of 30 and 40. As far as the track is concerned, the last two matches were won by the team, batting first and hence, teams may be complacent to chase on the strip in Hyderabad
The SRH may send Jonny Bairstow down the order in order to give the middle-order some sort of stability. Williamson may open with the in-form David Warner. Vijay Shankar will need to take responsibilities. Manish Pandey may come in place of Ricky Bhui. Abhishek Sharma and Deepak Hooda will have to play their roles as well. The pace trio of Sandeep, Bhuvneshwar and Khaleel have to deliver. Rashid Khan is the lone spinner.
Kane Williamson (C), David Warner, Vijay Shankar, Manish Pandey, Jonny Bairstow (WK), Deepak Hooda, Abhishek Sharma, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Sandeep Sharma
Chennai Super Kings
The CSK may bring in Harbhajan Singh, who missed the last game, in place of Mitchell Santner. He and Imran Tahir has formed a lethal spin-bowling duo in the T20 tournament. Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis would continue to open with Suresh Raina at number three. Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav and Kedar Jadhav are the men in the middle order. Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur are the fast bowlers.
