One of world cricket’s indomitable forces, even Virat Kohli and his brilliance failed to resurrect RCB from its downtrodden fate in recent seasons. They once again slumped to a slow start, in fact, the joint-worst start in IPL history (Lost their first six games, a feat emulated only by Delhi in 2013). Yet, they have been keen not to go down without a fight and in that pursuit, they have won four of their last five games.
Might sound a bit surprising for the ones who have followed only the first half of the season that RCB is still in contention. Mathematics definitely says yes to their playoff chances, but they still have a lot of work to do and expect some tremendous fortune on its way. While they can’t do much about the other results, they do have their skipper Virat Kohli, who can turn the game on its head where he’s in action.
Virat Kohli struck a hundred against KKR this season and successfully went past the 400-run mark in a season once again in his illustrious IPL career. The batting burden is heavy on him, but AB de Villiers, despite being a tad inconsistent, played a few mind-boggling knocks, much to the relief of the Indian captain.
Kohli will be up against one of the best in the world Kagiso Rabada on Saturday. The afternoon games this season have been pretty high-scoring and we might witness another one of those this weekend. But for that to happen, the 30-year-old has to step on the pedal and make his presence suffocate the opponents.
