The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) continued their winning registered their second consecutive win in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). They breezed past the Delhi Capitals (DC) in their own den at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium. It was a clinical show from the Men in Yellow who didn’t make much fuss about the chase and the pitch. It was a comprehensive victory for them in the end despite things getting a little bit tricky in the end.

Batting first, the Delhi Capitals got off to a brilliant start thanks to Prithvi Shaw. He faced the first two overs and got the quick runs. The first wicket stand of 36 runs was broken by Deepak Chahar in the third over of his spell. Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer then batted sensibly on a tricky pitch was slow. They stitched a 43-run partnership after which Iyer was pinned in front of the stumps by Imran Tahir.

Rishabh Pant once again looked dangerous but couldn’t extend his innings beyond 25 runs which he slammed off just 13 deliveries. Dhawan, at the other end, continued to play the same way and scored his first half-century of the season. But his wicket proved to be the turning point as Dwayne Bravo unfurled his variations at the death which restricted the Delhi Capitals to 147 runs for the loss of six wickets after 20 overs.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) got off to a bad start with Ambati Rayudu’s rough patch continuing in this match as well. But Shane Watson got going and played some beautiful strokes to bring the required run-rate to below six. He raced to 44 off just 26 balls before Amit Mishra got the better of him. Suresh Raina, on the other hand, looked in extremely good touch to core 30 off 16 balls before the leggie got his wicket as well.

MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav batted extremely slowly thanks to some tight bowling from the Capitals bowlers. They added 48 runs together for the fourth wicket in 53 deliveries. The match went to the last over but the calm head of MS Dhoni was there in the middle who scored a timely six off Mishra to calm the nerves. Dwayne Bravo finished it clinically in the end as the CSK sealed the chase.

Like every day, the social media gimmicks were once again at work who trolled Dhoni for taking the match deep in the innings.
