The Kolkata Knight Riders bounced back from a string of losses at the right time as they cruised to their 6th win of the season by defeating the Kings XI Punjab. The Kolkata franchise went six straight games without a win but returned with big victories in successive games. Sam Curran’s unbeaten 24-ball 55 powered the hosts to finish with 183/6 as 22 runs come off the 20th over. Shubman Gill anchored the chase for KKR with an unbeaten 49-ball 65 as they completed the chase with two overs to spare.

A record chase:

184 – The 184-run chase by the Kolkata Knight Riders is the 2nd highest chase by any team against the Kings XI Punjab in Mohali. Gujarat Lions chased down the target of 190 for the loss of four wickets in the 2017 season.


4 – The Knight Riders have defeated Kings XI at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on four instances; the joint-most victories for any team against KXIP in Mohali. Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers and RCB also defeated KXIP on four occasions in Mohali.


Russell @ 300:

300 – This game between KXIP and KKR was the 300th appearance in the Twenty20 format for Andre Russell. He is now the 18th player to feature in as many as 300 T20s and the 6th West Indian to do so. Three of the six Caribbean players with 300+ T20 caps featured in this – Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine and Russell.


Gill continues his consistency:

4 – Shubman Gill scored his 4th fifty in the IPL; the most by any player before turning 20. As many as four players have hit three fifty-plus scores before they turned 20 in the IPL. Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw are those four players who had three half-centuries before 20.


Ashwin bags yet another duck:

5.78Ravichandran Ashwin has bagged his 2nd duck in as many matches which extends his tally of ducks to 9 across the 52 IPL innings. Ashwin bags a duck every 5.78 innings which is the 2nd worst among the players who have batted in 50 or more IPL innings. Amit Mishra leads the list as he was dismissed for a duck in ten out of 54 innings at a ratio of 5.4 inns/duck.


Scoring against home team:

65* – Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 65-run knock is now the highest individual score in the IPL by a player from Punjab domestic team while playing against the Kings XI Punjab at their home venue in Mohali. Yuvraj Singh’s 42* for the Sunrisers during the 2016 season was the previous highest score.

Virat Kohli’s 99 against Delhi Daredevils during the 2013 edition in Delhi is the highest individual IPL score by a player against his home state team franchise at the home venue.
