Kolkata Knight Riders, on the other hand, need an outright win to become the fourth team in the playoffs. With Sunrisers Hyderabad losing their last league game, the Knight Riders have their destiny in their own hands.

MI beat Sunrisers Hyderabad through the super over in their last outing to secure their playoff spot. It was not the most dominating or clinical of performances from the three-time champions but it was just enough for them to progress. On the other hand, the Knight Riders seem to have gained the momentum at the right time. After losing six in a row that has nearly derailed their campaign, the two-time champions have won their previous two games in thumping manner.

In the last outing, the Dinesh Karthik-led side made light work of Kings XI Punjab. Despite chasing 183 away from home, the Knight Riders crossed the line without much trouble. Prior to that, they had thrashed Mumbai and will be taking confidence from that win as they look to seal their playoff spot. Mumbai have not looked at their best this season and the Knight Riders will be fancying their chances.

However, there will be a considerable amount of cloud-coverage with the weather report forecasting it to be around 31%. The humidity will be around 78-86% which can make it an unpleasant and tough experience. The temperature will be around 29-degree Celsius throughout the game with the possibility of slight variation.
