IPL 2019: Mithun Manhas appointed RCB assistant coach for the upcoming season

He worked as the assistant coach of the Kings XI Punjab last season.

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are gearing up for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In a bid to win their maiden title, the franchise has made a host of changes in their support staff. However, the former Delhi cricketer Mithun Manhas has also been added to the support staff now and he will work as the assistant coach.

According to the sports journalist of J&K Sports Time, Mushtaq War, Mithun Manhas has been appointed the assistant coach of the RCB franchise for the 2019 season. Mushtaq congratulated Manhas over the appointment and the cricketer also acknowledged the same with a Thank You tweet.


Manhas’ experience in coaching

Mithun Manhas has previously worked with Bangladesh U19 team as the batting consultant and then moved to the KXIP franchise last season. He has a fair bit of experience in coaching and will look to make the most if during his time with the RCB. Under his guidance, the KXIP did decently in the IPL 2018.

Manhas has also done well with the Jammu and Kashmir as the player cum mentor during the 2015-16 season before taking over as the coach of the team. It will be interesting to see how RCB fares under his watchful eyes in the upcoming season.

RCB has been striving for the trophy ever since the inception of the IPL and it remains to be seen if the team can go the distance this year. Moreover, they will be having the advantage of AB de Villiers featuring in the whole season having retired from the international stage. A lot of overseas players are set to leave the tournament mid-way this season with the World Cup to follow the T20 league.
