IPL 2019: MS Dhoni has fun chat with SRH players David Warner, Sandeep Sharma and others

MS Dhoni had missed the Sunrisers Hyderabad- Chennai Super Kings tie played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on April 17 due to back spasms. Sunrisers defeated CSK easily to hand the no.1 team on the IPL 2019 points table, their second defeat in the ongoing tournament.

Suresh Raina led the team, and Dhoni was seen having some fun before the toss, playing football with his teammates and basically looking chilled out. He was wearing the CSK kit, but Raina revealed at the toss, that since it was a back problem that got painful enough in CSK’s previous match, team management decided to give their skipper rest. This was the first time since 2010, that Dhoni missed a match for his team.

Dhoni was seen chatting with SRH players

Dhoni has often been seen sharing tips with youngsters after the game whether it is the IPL or international cricket. This time, he was seen having a conversation with David Warner, Sandeep Sharma, Shardul Thakur, and Vijay Shankar. The players were seen having a lighter moment in the tense atmosphere of a tournament like Indian Premier League.

CSK struggled to make runs on the Hyderabad pitch after winning the toss and choosing to bat first. Only Faf du Plessis made 45 and his opening partner Shane Watson looked a bit comfortable in making runs, as Rashid Khan’s two wickets, helped SRH keep CSK to 132 runs. Warner’s 25-ball 50 and Jonny Bairstow’s 61* took the game away from CSK during the powerplay and they lost by 6 wickets.

The fans were elated to see the amazing CSK captain and he waved to the stands which were chanting his name, as he was leaving the field after his interaction with the players.

Chennai will next play Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 21 before hosting Hyderabad in the return fixture at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on April 23.
