It is forgotten that the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians last night was a brilliant one. The no-ball that wasn’t called off the final delivery hogged all the limelight. The post-match presentation and press conferences were dominated by the talk of the same incident. Moreover, there has been a massive outrage in the cricketing fraternity and it hasn’t died yet.
For MI, Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the game. The way he bowled throughout was simply brilliant. After giving away 12 runs in his first over, he came back to pick up the prized scalp of Virat Kohli in the 14th over. But the way he bowled at the death was remarkable. He gave away just one run in the 17th over and then just five in the 19th, picking up one wicket in each of the overs.
These two overs from India’s lead pacer meant that Mumbai was always in the game. In fact, his terrific final over meant that Lasith Malinga had 17 runs to defend in the final over. Malinga did get hit for a six off the first ball but he then nailed the yorker every single time to close out the game for MI. Moreover, Bumrah’s performance overshadowed the brilliance of AB de Villiers as well.
The way Bumrah bowled, he is a legend: Krunal Pandya
Jasprit Bumrah is the No. 1 ranked ODI bowler in the ICC ODI rankings. His rise to the top has been phenomenal. Krunal Pandya who bowled an economical spell of 0/28 in his four overs last night, was all praise for the 25-year-old pacer. He lauded the pacer’s ability to consistently deliver for India and Mumbai and termed him as a ‘legend’.
“It was a great game. We were in-out throughout the second innings. The way Bumrah bowled, he is a legend. The way he’s giving consistent performances whether he is playing for India or Mumbai Indians; he is outstanding,” the elder Pandya was quoted saying.
