Mumbai Indians became the first team to enter the final of the IPL 2019 as they got the better of the Chennai Super Kings once again in this season. On a turning track, the Super Kings elected to bat first and could only finish with 131/4 in their 20 overs. The MI spinners controlled the majority of CSK innings before Jasprit Bumrah ensured MS Dhoni didn’t finish off in style. Suryakumar Yadav’s well composed unbeaten 71 helped the visiting team chase down the target with nine balls and six wickets to spare.

All the major stats and numbers recorded during a comfortable victory for the Mumbai Indians:

MI continue their CSK domination:

4 – Mumbai Indians now have defeated the Chennai Super Kings in each of their last four matches in the IPL. Thus, they become the first side to do so to the Men in Yellow.

A tough venue for everyone except MI:

5 – The Chennai Super Kings lost only five of the 24 matches they played since 2013 in the IPL at the Chepauk. Super Kings lost four out of those five against the Mumbai Indians only as they lost to their arch-rivals in 2013, 2015, 2019 (league) and 2019 (Q1).

11-2 – CSK has lost only two of the 13 matches since 2013 while defending a total at the Chepauk. Both the losses came against MI only as they clinched on a thriller by six wickets in 2015.

Only three overseas players for MI:

2 – Mumbai Indians fielded with only three overseas players in this game. This is only the 2nd instance of a team fielding without all four overseas players in a playoff/knockout match in the IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders recorded this feat in the previous season’s qualifier against Sunrisers but ended up on the losing side.

3 – Only the 3rd time Mumbai Indians have not fielded with all their four overseas players in an IPL game and the first such instance in the last seven editions. They played with three foreigners against the Rajasthan Royals in 2010 edition and against Kings XI Punjab in 2012 season; both the games were played at home.

Tahir @ 300:

300Imran Tahir completed 300 wickets in the Twenty20 format with the wicket of Krunal Pandya. He thus became only the 6th player and the first from South Africa to bag 300 wickets in the Twenty20 cricket.

100% record for Rohit:

7 – Rohit Sharma ended up on the winning side in all the seven matches he played against the Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk in the IPL. He featured in two matches for Deccan Chargers and five for the Mumbai Indians at the Chepauk against CSK and ended up on the winning team in all those matches.

Jadeja @ 100:

100 – Ravindra Jadeja featured in his 100th game of the IPL for the Chennai Super Kings. He is only the 3rd player to feature in 100+ IPL matches for CSK after Suresh Raina (162) and MS Dhoni (158).
