IPL 2019: Shah Rukh Khan invites Mamata Banerjee to visit Eden Gardens

Shah Rukh Khan and his Kolkata Knight Riders franchise are absolutely on a roll in the 12th edition, winning their first two games at the Eden Gardens in style. After Andre Russell powered them to mind-boggling finish against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Windies all-rounder once again was at the thick of things to propel the Knights to a comfortable win against Kings XI Punjab.

With some of their youngsters like Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti ruled out due to injuries and other senior players not in great touch, there were some concerns over KKR’s progress. But as it turns out, they sent a strong message to the other teams and the two-time champions are firmly in contention to go for a third.

After the side registered a comfortable 28-run win against Kings XI, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter to congratulate the side and its owner SRK. She also urged the side to “Keep winning”. That indeed was a great gesture from the honorable Chief Minister, who is also busy campaigning for the upcoming elections.

Replying to her tweet, King Khan requested Didi to keep visiting the Eden Gardens when KKR play apart from thanking her for the good wishes. Mamata Banerjee has always been a great cricket enthusiast and has displayed her love for the game time and again.

Four away games on the stretch for KKR

After a couple of home fixtures, the Knight Riders will now be traveling all over the country for their next four games. The coming Saturday, they will be in Delhi to face the Capitals and after that, they will not be featuring till the 5th of next month, where they will play the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy.

They will once again go up to the Northern side to lock horns with the Rajasthan Royals and then come all the way south to play Chennai Super Kings. A tough road awaits the 2012 and 2014 champions, but if they garner some good results here, that will send a strong and scary message to the other teams.
