It’s Singh calling Singh. Dashing Indian left-hand batsman Yuvraj Singh recently had a narrow miss in the auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he went unsold in the first round and was picked up by former champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the accelerated round at his base price of Rs 1 crore. On Sunday, the 37-year-old batsman took to Instagram to share a video with his Punjab and India teammate Harbhajan Singh and promised to wrestle with the latter next season.
Harbhajan was also in the MI till recently and was picked up by Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) last year. Though he did not play any special role in the 2018 season of the IPL even as the CSK lifted the trophy, the 38-year-old was retained by the defenders for the 2019 season keeping in mind his rich experience. Harbhajan and Yuvraj though haven’t shared a dressing room in the IPL even though the latter is set to wear the jersey of his sixth franchise the next season.
When Yuvraj ‘attacked’ Harbhajan in 2013 IPL
In the video that Yuvraj shared from the IPL edition of 2013, he was seen ‘wrestling’ with Harbhajan though there was no sour element in it. It was a perfect ode to the years of camaraderie the two big guns of Indian cricket have shared. In the video, Yuvraj, who played for Pune Warriors then, was seen jumping on to Harbhajan, who was batting for the MI, after the latter’s team won by 5 wickets.
The Indians went on to win their maiden IPL title that year. A befitting background song, highlighting their friendship, made the video even more appealing to the spectators. “Major Thorwback to 2013, this year I’m going to wrestle you again,” Yuvraj captioned the video, tagging his former India teammate.
The two cricketers, who have tons of international runs and wickets shared between them, will renew their rivalry in the 12th edition of the IPL and the cricket-lovers will be looking forward to the moment even though they both have struggled to hit the form they were once known for.
