MS Dhoni, on Tuesday, once again showed he is still the man to bank on when it comes to closing out games. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper played a calm and composed inning of 32 to make sure the defending champions come out on top against high-flying Delhi Capitals on a tough Feroz Shah Kotla track. The win meant that the Super Kings continued their winning run in the competition after registering their second win in as many games.

Super Kings had their task cut out against the home side who had blasted 213 against Mumbai Indians just a couple of days ago. And the way Prithvi Shaw started, it looked like the Shreyas Iyer-led side is set for another big score. However, the reigning IPL champions proved their mettle once again by restricting Delhi to a modest 147 for 6. Dwayne Bravo starred with the ball, picking up 3 for 33 while Shikhar Dhawan top-scored for the hosts with 51.

In reply, the visitors were off to a solid start despite losing opener Ambati Rayudu cheaply. Shane Watson looked in imperious touch and blasted 44 in no time to settle the early nerves on the tricky pitch. As a result, the Super Kings had raced away to 100 in the 11th over. However, things became a bit tricky after a while. MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav were struggling to get going on the two-paced pitch.

But the experienced campaigners just knew what was needed to be done as they mixed caution with aggression to take the team closer to the finishing line. They added 46 runs before Jadhav departed in the final over when the team needed just two. Dwayne Bravo then sealed the game by hitting veteran Amit Mishra for a  four.

Special cheerleader for Dhoni:

When Dhoni came out to bat, more than half the stadium was rooting for him despite their team playing against him and his team. And it would not wrong to say that the cutest and the most notable fan in the stands was none other than Ziva – Dhoni’s daughter. As soon as Ziva saw Dhoni walking out to bat, she was seen shouting ‘Papaaaa’ to cheer her famous father.
