The table-toppers, Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians will battle it out for supremacy in this riveting encounter. The Capitals have won five out six games this year and have looked the team to beat. Different players have stood up for them in different matches. They have played like a team and that reflects on the points table.
On paper, all their bases look covered. The only place where they would want improvement is perhaps Shikhar Dhawan’s form. Apart from that, they have been at the top of their game. Mumbai too, like Delhi have been fabulous. They have shed their tag of being ‘slow starters’ and have already registered four wins in six games.
Almost all their star players have returned to form and now they will hope for consistent performances from them. A bit more though can be expected from the likes of Quinton de Kock and Hardik Pandya, who both are yet to completely come into their own.
In the MI vs DC game, here are three players you can exclude from your Dream11 team:
1. Shikhar Dhawan (9 credits)
The southpaw from Delhi has been one among the very few disappointments for Delhi this year. Shikhar Dhawan has managed just 132 runs in six games. Despite getting to bat at a venue like Sharjah twice in those six games, his strike rate is just 122. He has failed to capitalise on the starts he has gotten, and several times thrown his wicket away.
MI have a very strong bowling attack, and for an out-of-form Dhawan, it is going to be a very hard task to score runs against them. Hence, it would be better to exclude Dhawan.
2. Shimron Hetmyer (8.5 credits)
It might seem bizarre to exclude a player immediately after he has scored a match-defining 45. However, we have to keep in mind certain facts. While Hetmyer did a good job in the last game, let us not forget, it was against an under-fire RR bowling attack, that too in Sharjah.
Against the in-form bowling of MI, at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, he might find it difficult to get going. A lot of sentiment towards Hetmyer would be positive, but it would be better for you to avoid that hype, going for some other batsman and opt for a player who has scored runs at all venues.
3. Prithvi Shaw (8.5 credits)
Young Shaw has looked good this season and even has 198 runs to his name. But, if there is one observation made about Shaw, it is his downfall against quality pace bowling. He has struggled against quality pace and has succumbed to the short delivery time and time again. Bumrah and Boult will be at his throat continuously.
Add to that, Shaw has just 39 runs in three games against MI. Hence with a plethora of batting options available to you and the numbers not in his favour, you can keep out Shaw.
