Shikhar Dhawan, on Tuesday, October 20, became the first batsman to score back-to-back centuries in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The southpaw wasn’t at his best at the beginning of the tournament, but then a couple of fifties helped him find his mojo back. His 58-ball 101 helped Delhi Capitals (DC) to a five-wicket win over the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Sharjah.

In DC’s previous match against the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), Dhawan, yet another time, put his best foot forward. After the Capitals elected to bat first, the left-hander scored 106 runs off 61 balls with the help of 12 fours and three sixes. On the back of his knock, DC could only churn out 164 runs for the loss of five wickets. He got no semblance of support from the other batters in the team.

Shikhar Dhawan’s knock in vain

Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant were the second-highest scorers for the Capitals with 14 runs each. The run-chase was a completely one-sided affair as Punjab chased the target down with one over to spare. For KXIP, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal fell early, but this time around, the others chipped in.

For DC, they tasted their third victory of the ongoing tournament but managed to stay at the top of the points table. They will be looking to seal their berth in the playoffs in the upcoming contests.

In the meantime, Harsha Bhogle, the renowned journalist, was happy after Dhawan was given the POTM award. The veteran felt that the adjudicators did a commendable job in rewarding Dhawan despite the latter ending up on the losing side.

Bhogle took to Twitter and wrote, “Delighted that Shikhar Dhawan was man of the match. Sometimes we place too much emphasis on having a player from the winning team. Perfect choice.”

Here’s Bhogle’s tweet:

Thereafter, former Indian cricketer, Aakash Chopra tagged former Indian women’s cricketer Anjum Chopra while replying to Bhogle’s tweet. Anjum replied to Aakash with a couple of smiling emojis.

Bhogle, thereafter, in his own stylish manner asked about the adjudicator. Bhogle wrote, “So do I now know who the adjudicator was?” Replying to it, Aakash wrote, “A Chopra”.
