While the injury was the primary reason for releasing Mohit Sharma, the Chennai-based franchise did not specify the clear reason for releasing others. The team also wished farewell to all the players, wishing for their success. Lastly, the team also made clear that it has now a purse of Rs 14.6 crores for the upcoming auctions, which is to be held on 19th December 2019.
The purse value was a combination of Rs 3.2 crores that the team was left with after IPL 2019 auctions, Rs 8.4 crores that the team added to its kitty via those 5 releases, and finally the additional 3 crores, that has been given to every team for IPL 2020 auctions.
