Mumbai Indians (MI) registered an easy victory against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium by 9 wickets to cement their position at the top of the table. It was a clinical win for the Mumbai-based franchise as left-hander Ishan Kishan, who is opening the innings for MI in the absence of Rohit Sharma, showed his class with the willow in an easy run-chase.

Losing the toss, Shreyas Iyer & Co. were sent to bat first. The Capitals received their first hiccup in the first over of the game as Shikhar Dhawan bagged a golden duck while Prithvi Shaw also gave his wicket to New Zealand pacer Trent Boult in the third over while playing at 11. After that, there was a collapse of the batting line-up as mainstays Iyer, Rishab Pant, Marcus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer lost their wickets cheaply.

Ishan Kishan scripts victory for his team

DC were restricted to a paltry total of 110 at the loss of 9 wickets as no batsman took the responsibility. Boult and Jasprit Bumrah were the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai with three wickets each while Nathan Coulter-Nile and Chahar had one each.

With just 111 runs on the board, it was a cakewalk for Mumbai Indians and a scintillating knock by Ishan Kishan made things easier. Mumbai easily won the match within 15 overs on the back of 72 unbeaten off 47 deliveries including 8 fours and three sixes by Ishan at a strike rate of 153.19. Kishan has been brilliant with the bat at the top of the order and has impressed with his abilities as an opener in the absence of captain Rohit Sharma.

The 22-year-old smashed the ball by South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje in the 15th over high over deep square leg for a six to seal the game. The beautiful shot by Ishan left many stunned including Rohit, who was enjoying the game sitting in the dugout along with support staff Zaheer Khan and Robin Singh. Seeing the big hit by the young gun, Rohit gave an animated reaction which was very well captured in the camera.
