The 50th match of the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) saw Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) locking horns against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. It was a crucial match as the fate of many franchises including Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was dependent on the result of this fixture.

The toss was won by RR and Steven Smith sent the Kings to bat first. Punjab had a disappointing start as Mandeep Singh bagged a golden duck. However, the franchise had no qualms as the batsman who walked on the crease was Universe Boss, Chris Gayle. It was a One-Man show in Abu Dhabi as Gayle started firing from the very first ball he faced. The Universe Boss stitched an important partnership of 120 runs with the captain KL Rahul, where the latter’s contribution was of just 46 runs.

Jofra Archer’s old tweets resurface on Social Media

Rajasthan had an opportunity to send back Gayle early in the match, however, Riyan Parag dropped an easy catch and the West Indies Superstar was unstoppable after that. Gayle played some sensational shots and showed why is known as the king of the shortest format of the game. The Jamaica-born was playing at 93* when he smacked Jofra Archer for a brilliant six on the third ball of the final over to reach 99.

Gayle was all set to score his maiden century of the 2020 edition of the T20 extravaganza, however, the England pacer bowled a perfect yorker on the very next ball to dismiss the Universe Boss. Gayle looked extremely frustrated for getting out on 99 and in anger, his bat slipped from his hand and reached towards the short mid-wicket.

After this disheartening dismissal of Gayle, while he was playing on 99, two old tweets of Archer are going viral on social media. Apart from his game, Jofra is also famous for his prophecies as there have been many instances when the player’s old tweets became relevant to the present scenarios. This is what exactly happened this time too.

Archer’s tweets from years ago resurfaced on social media where he can be predicting that a batsman is not getting a hundred if he’s bowling. Further, there is another tweet, where the pacer tells Chris Gayle to not hurt himself. Both the tweets are very much relatable with this match.
