The 49th match of the Indian Premier League will be played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Though it was too late to make a comeback, CSK displayed some quality cricket from their end in their previous match against RCB. It felt like the team was well planned in all their actions, and executed them perfectly.

CSK is out of the playoffs race of IPL 2020, but the fan base of the champion franchise is massive, which would still want the team to do some magic on the ground. They will lock horns with KKR, who are very much running up to seal their position in the top four. With perfect execution and squad planning in the last match, it’s unlikely that the Yellow Army would see a big change in their playing XI.

Predicted Playing XI of CSK against KKR

Openers (Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad)

The constant run-getter of the men in yellow, Faf du Plessis, got a quickfire cameo of 25 runs in the last match. He has been showing class and consistency since day one and would definitely like to make fans happy by scoring well in his next match on October 29.

The young man turned out to be CSK’s biggest hero in the last match. Ruturaj Gaikwad opened the innings with Du Plessis and returned only after taking the team over the line. His unbeaten knock of 65 runs became the very basis of CSK’s classic victory against RCB. He is likely to remain with his team for the next match.

Middle-Order (Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni, and N Jagadeesan)

Rayudu always carries the intent to play some aggressive shots to get the team going. His contribution of 39 runs was too essential for the team in the last outing, and he is expected to play with the same attitude in this game. Despite the team being out from the playoffs race, players would be expected to carry up the spirit of the game.

The legendary skipper MS Dhoni would be going through some hard times as he couldn’t lead his team into the playoffs race for the very first time in the history of IPL. However, he accepts it to be a part of the game and would lead his team from the front with the same bold attitude in their clash against Eoin Morgan’s side. Young Jagadeesan might also join the squad to strengthen the middle-order with his skills.

All-rounder (Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran)

Jadeja was at his very best with the bat in the last couple of outings as he was fetching good runs. However, he didn’t get the chance to bat in the last clash but remained economical with the ball. His all-round expertise can come to the team’s great help any day and is likely to remain with the team.

If CSK has found one star this year, it has to be Sam Curran in all regards. The young man has been at his best in lending his contribution to the team. Even when the whole CSK was shaking, he stood there to smash a terrific half-century. In the last match, he picked three wickets to keep the team sailing. He will walk up with the team in their remaining matches in all likelihood.

Bowlers (Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir, Mitchell Santner, and Monu Kumar)

Chahar took the responsibility of the pace attack of CSK single-handedly in the last match, and he showed his heroics again with the new ball. He picked two wickets for the team and would want put in his best to maintain his class. He has become Dhoni’s go-to man all these years with the new ball.

Imran Tahir’s presence was much awaited in the team for the last few matches, and he is finally here. However, he has not been able to deliver as per the expectations. Keeping his earlier form into consideration, he might continue showing up for the team in their remaining games.

CSK walked with a set of extra spinners in their last game, and the tactic worked all well for them. Though Monu Kumar remained expensive, Mitchell Santer was successful enough to impress the team. He remained the most economical from CSK’s bowling unit, to name one scalp to his credit.
