In the Sunrisers Hyderabad’s match against the Chennai Super Kings in Dubai, Priyam Garg was involved a bad mix-up with Kane Williamson, leading to the latter’s run out. While going back, Williamson, quite expectantly, wasn’t happy and it was a crucial wicket since he was coming off a 26-ball 41 against the Delhi Capitals a couple of days ago.

However, after being involved in the New Zealand captain’s run out, Garg made amends, scoring his maiden IPL half-century. He scored 51 off 26 with six fours and a six, guiding the Sunrisers to a competitive 164 in 20 overs. The youngster also got the Player of the Match award after David Warner and Co emerged victorious by seven runs.

It felt really bad when he got run-out, says Priyam Garg

In the meantime, Garg said that Kane wasn’t fussed about his dismissal. Priyam said that after he went into the dressing room, Williamson congratulated him for his half-century and asked him to put the run-out incident aside.

“It felt really bad when he got run-out. He was a set batsman. That he was run-out was a mistake, but everything went alright after that. When I went back to the dugout, he said to me ‘Don’t worry mate, forget about it. You’ve batted really well’,” Garg was quoted as saying in IPLT20.com.

Priyam Garg had a task at hand after Kane’s dismissal since SRH were struggling at 69 for four after 11 overs. But he stitched together a 77-run stand with Abhishek Sharma for the fifth wicket and brought his team out of jail. Priyam said how he got the measure of the conditions and planned to take Ravindra Jadeja on.

“I had no pressure when Abhishek came in to bat, because we know each other and our strengths. We both gelled well together and enjoyed each others’ batting. I felt really good about scoring my first IPL fifty,” he stated.

“I thought I could take 3-4 balls to get in, but that turned into 7-8 balls. Priyam was batting very well, so I thought I shouldn’t be the one negating the runs, so I decided to target Ravindra Jadeja,” Garg added.
