1. Steve Smith

Steve Smith was preferred ahead of Lalit Yadav and has been playing as a replacement for Marcus Stoinis. His entry into the XI has also pushed Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer to a place down in the batting order. He batted at no. 3 in the previous match with not a lot of runs.

The young all-rounder was in superb form with the bat and the ball in the first leg of the IPL 2021. In the last two matches, he has bowled eight overs in total, giving away 111 runs with the ball. Now, that is some terrible bowling efforts and he has paid a heavy price for being on point. Curran could struggle for wickets as he has right through the last few months. On top of that, he is not even contributing with the bat or putting it in the right way, not getting enough chances.
