While buying New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner in the team, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming spoke about how Santner has one of the smartest brains in the cricketing world. Fleming’s statement has some credibility as the slow left-arm orthodox knows what exactly to do during the crucial stages of an inning.

He is pretty similar to what Ravindra Jadeja is with for India as he bowl tight overs, contribute crucially at the lower-order for the team and save useful runs while fielding. And that might be one of the reasons of him getting limited opportunities in the CSK team.

Also, the presence of foreign players like Lungi Ngidi, Dwayne Bravo, Moeen Ali, and Sam Curran has not helped his cause. But an intelligent thinking cricketer like Santner surely deserves a place in the team. His effective bowling in the middle-overs can be frustrating for the opposition teams.
