Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has put forth his predictions of the Qualifier 1 of IPL 2021 between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals to be played on Sunday, October 10 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Capitals, led by Rishabh Pant, finished as the table-toppers with 20 points. But they will go into the game after losing to the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Avesh Khan failed defend five runs off the last ball as KS Bharat smashed him for a six downtown to take the Challengers home. The Super Kings, captained by MS Dhoni, on the other hand, are on a three-match losing streak. In their previous game, Punjab Kings beat them with as many as 70 balls left in the latter’s run-chase. But CSK did well in their first 11 games to not slip out of the top two.
Aakash Chopra shares his opinions on the crunch game
For the upcoming game, Chopra said that one of the opening batters will go on to get a half-century. “One out of four openers to score 50 plus runs,” Chopra was quoted as saying on his official YouTube channel. Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis are the likely openers.
Chopra reckoned that the left-arm tweakers are likely to perform better than the right-armers. “Left-arm spinners to have better economy than right-arm spinners,” he said. Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja are the left-armers, who will most probably be on show during the encounter.
The veteran said that one of the batters in the match will get out to a short-pitched delivery. “One batter to be dismissed by a bouncer,” Chopra stated. Earlier, former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara said that the DC bowlers are likely to pepper the CSK openers with bouncers in the powerplay.
Last, but not the least, Chopra predicted the Capitals to come out trumps in the upcoming game. “Delhi to win the match,” he added. In the league stage, DC got past the Super Kings both times. But in playoffs, CSK have defeated the Capitals two out of two times. The winner of the upcoming game will go into the final while the loser will have to play the Qualifier 2 in Sharjah.
