In a life-changing moment, a barber from Bihar’s Madhubani district became a millionaire overnight thanks to his spot-on choice while making his fantasy team for the Indian Premier League clash between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. A popular sports fantasy-based platform, Dream11 has changed the lives of many. September 26 was Ashok Kumar’s day, a commoner from Bihar, who hit the jackpot.

“After the match, I came in the first position and won Rs one crore. The official call also came soon after. I was told that a sum of Rs 70 lakh would be credited into my account in the next two days. The money will be paid after the deduction of taxes. I couldn’t sleep that night,” Kumar, who has a barbershop at Nanaur Chowk in the Andharthandi block of Madhubani, was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

He revealed that he has been a passionate fantasy player, trying his luck by making Dream Teams on the fantasy platform since last many years, but the 1 Crore jackpot remained elusive. However, fate took a different turn on Sunday, when each one of Kumar’s choices proved correct, leading him to bag the grand 1 Crore prize participating in a Rs. 50 contest.

I love my job as a barber and it will continue, says Kumar

“I selected the Chennai Super King and Kolkata Knight Riders teams after paying the entry fee of Rs 50. I never thought I would be so lucky. When the match ended, the team I had selected performed remarkably. They have helped me win that contest,” he added.

Despite hitting the jackpot, a rather down to earth Kumar revealed that he has no plans to leave his profession and that he “loves his job”. On being asked how would he utilize and dispense the massive amount he has won, like a modest working-class man, he said he would use the money to pay off all his debts and build a safe haven for his family.

“I love my job as a barber and it will continue. I will first clear the debts with the winning amount and then construct a house for my family,” he said.
