The twenty-sixth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) currently in progress at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Winning the toss, the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s skipper Virat Kohli opted to field, suggesting that the dew might play a part and that his team would try to make use of the shorter boundaries during the chase.

On a Head-to-Head count in the history of IPL of these two sides, the Kings are the superior side, having won 14 to Challengers’ 12 in 26 IPL meetings. However, since 2017, both have won four games each against one other in league stages. In 2020, RCB lost both their league games against PBKS.

In the first match, KL Rahul’s brilliant hundred propelled his team to a big total of 206/3, while in response, RCB got bowled out for just 109 runs, losing the game by a whopping 97 runs. In the second encounter, Punjab Kings chased down the 172-run target in 20 overs, winning the game by 8 wickets. KL Rahul and Chris Gayle scored half-centuries helping their team win the game.

The former India cricketer and the CricTracker expert Reema Malhotra, however, reckons that the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore will be able to take an edge over KL Rahul and his men in this encounter and will record their sixth victory of the season.

RCB in-form and looks the superior side: Reema Malhotra

Speaking at CricTracker’s live show ‘In The Air’, Malhotra said she would want to go with the Royal Challengers because their unit looks more balanced and complete. She also believes that the advantage of toss will tilt the scales of the game in the favor of Virat Kohli’s team as they can chase the total and will be in a better position to assess the conditions as compared to their opponents.

“Well, the last time one of my predictions went wrong, although one turned right (Laughs). But I am going with Bangalore today because they the in-form team, a balanced team, and they have won the toss, bowling first. So all in all, their fortunes seem brighter at this moment,” she said.
