IPL 2021: Faf du Plessis and Bravo reveal the reason for singing CSK song before toss during CPL

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is one of the top franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They have won the trophy three times and the likes of Faf du Plessis and Dwayne Bravo have played a crucial role in almost two of those title wins. They love donning the yellow jersey which was visible during a Caribbean Premier League (CPL) game this season when they sung a CSK song at the toss.

Bravo was the captain of the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots while Faf du Plessis was the skipper St Lucia Kings. When the duo met at the toss, they sung the song, “We are Chennai boys and making all the noise wherever we go.” They have now revealed the reason why they decided to sing the Chennai song during the CPL.

Du Plessis recalled that moment stating that the person conducting the toss was calling them the CSK boys. This is when Bravo stepped in with the idea and they ended up singing the song. “When we went to the toss, the person who was conducting it was saying ‘two CSK boys’,” the South African said.

“I was like, how about we sing out team song, ‘We are the Chennai boys’. He (Faf) said let’s go for it. And so we said, depending on whoever wins the toss, will start it and the next one will join,” Bravo recalled the funny moment. “And then we looked at each other and we were like – let’s sing the song. We are proud of being part of CSK and that’s it,” Du Plessis continued revealing the story.

We are the Chennai boys, says Bravo

Dwayne Bravo further stated that the bond between the CSK players is unbreakable while also terming the Yellow franchise as the best in the IPL ever. “The CSK bond, nothing can get between that. We are proud to represent the best franchise in IPL and we are the Chennai boys,” Bravo further said.

As for the IPL 2021, both the players are in great form in their department. Du Plessis has scored 349 runs in 10 matches at a strike-rate of 141.21 while Bravo has scalped nine wickets in six matches at a brilliant strike-rate of 12.66. CSK are currently at the top of the points table and look set to make it to the playoffs in style.
