IPL 2021: Frustrated Virat Kohli hits chair with his bat after getting out

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are currently fighting it out in the sixth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL). David Warner didn’t hesitate to bowl first after winning the toss while Virat Kohli wasn’t too unhappy to bat first on a relatively slow pitch.

Accordingly, the RCB skipper opened the innings with Devdutt Padikkal and played a few gorgeous strokes to leave the fans awestruck like he always does. At one stage, it looked like Kohli was in the mood to score big. But as the spinners were introduced into the attack, run-scoring became tough. The likes of Shahbaz Nadeem and Rashid Khan tied down the opposition batsmen.

Virat Kohli’s strike-rate also came down significantly and in the 13th over, he ended up top-edging one off Jason Holder. It was a delivery on the leg-side which the 32-year-old looked to maneuver in the gap and in the process, closed his bat face a bit early to top edge only for Vijay Shankar to pouch it safely.

Virat Kohli frustrated after throwing away a good start

Understandably, Virat Kohli wasn’t happy with himself for not making a good start count on a slow pitch. While he controlled himself on the field, the anger was quite visible soon after he crossed the boundary line. The RCB captain hit at the chair with his bat after reaching his dug-out and soon the video went viral on social media. Virat Kohli thrives in standing up for his team whenever needed but he wasn’t able to do so and he was visibly frustrated.

Meanwhile, SRH spinners were at their best using the pitch and despite going for 22 runs in the final over of his spell, one felt that Nadeem did his job perfectly dismissing Shahbaz Ahmed. Rashid Khan, on the other hand, was at his best sending back AB de Villiers and Washington Sundar ending with the magical figures of 2/18 in his four overs.
