Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are going from strength to strength in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The MS Dhoni-led unit has now won four matches in a row and are sitting pretty on top of the points table with a net run rate of 1.009.

On Sunday, April 25, the Yellow Army beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 69 runs at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After electing to bat first, the Super Kings had their travails. However, 37 runs off the 20th over meant that CSK posted a competitive score of 191 on the board.

In the run-chase, Devdutt Padikkal’s 15-ball 34 set the tone for Virat Kohli and Co. But from being 44/0 in the fourth over, the Challengers were restricted to 122/9. The loss also brought an end to RCB’s four-match winning streak in the league.

Here are the CSK Player Ratings for the CSK vs RCB match:

Ruturaj Gaikwad- 7/10

Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed four fours and one six in his 25-ball 33, but he couldn’t carry on. Just when he got his eyes in, it was Yuzvendra Chahal, who accounted for his wicket in the 10th over of the CSK innings.

Faf du Plessis- 8.5/10

Faf du Plessis scored 50 runs, but he could only manage those runs at a strike rate of 121.95. He fell prey to Harshal Patel, the Purple Cap Holder of the ongoing tournament. He got out in the penultimate ball of the 14th over.

Suresh Raina- 6/10

Suresh Raina got off to a fluent start as he scored 24 runs off 18 balls with the help of one four and three sixes. The southpaw perished after he unsuccessfully tried to clear the boundary on the leg-side off Harshal.

Ambati Rayudu- 4.5/10

Ambati Rayudu came to bat number four after Raina’s wicket, but he couldn’t make much of an impact. The right-hander managed 14 runs off seven balls with one four and a six before he became Patel’s third victim.

Ravindra Jadeja- 9.5/10

Ravindra Jadeja had the Midas Touch and was the standout player from either side. While batting, he smashed 62 runs off 28 balls with four fours and five sixes. Later, he picked up three wickets and gave only 16 runs. He also bowled a maiden.

MS Dhoni- 6/10

MS Dhoni didn’t have much to do with the bat in hand. He stayed unbeaten on two runs off three balls. But he was quite effective in his decision-making and made some smart bowling changes in crucial stages.

Dwayne Bravo- 4/10

Dwayne Bravo didn’t have much to do on the day. He bowled a couple of overs at the death and gave away 19 runs at an economy rate of 9.50. The veteran all-rounder was also hit for two sixes.

Sam Curran- 7/10

Sam Curran was expensive in the powerplay, but he went on to pick up the wicket of Virat Kohli in the fourth over of RCB’s run-chase. In his four overs, the left-arm fast bowler gave away 35 runs with nine dot balls.

Shardul Thakur- 9/10

Shardul Thakur picked up the all-important wicket of Devdutt Padikkal, who had taken RCB off to a flier. Moreover, in his four overs, the fast bowler gave away only 11 runs and bowled as many as 17 dot balls.

Deepak Chahar- 2/10

Deepak Chahar didn’t quite have the day he would have expected to. In the two overs he bowled, the pacer leaked 25 runs at an economy rate of 12.50. He bowled two wides and was also hit for five fours.

Imran Tahir- 9/10

Imran Tahir bowled his heart out as he gave away only 16 runs in his spell of four overs. Along with bowling 14 dot balls, the leg-spinner also managed to get the important wickets of Harshal Patel and Navdeep Saini.
